Stories that change us

I am not an avid reader - I'm a listener, thanks to Audible. My favorite genre is Fantasy Paranormal.

I also enjoy Behavior, Leadership, and Technical books. Lately, I've been given books outside my normal reading and have been opened up to many great stories. I enjoy reading and learning new things. Reading helps me think differently, expanding outside my day-to-day or taking me far away.  Below are a few recent books that really stand out for me. Hopefully, you will enjoy them as well.

Inga Buividavice | Painting Calm

I have just started reading this book and it has re-invigorated me to paint more frequently, if not daily!
The title is what drew me to this book as well as the book cover visual.

I'm still working my way through the beginning pages that contain very useful information for newbies. For example, I can get an empty tray tin and put wet paint into it.  WHAT!?  Absolutely revolutionary!

All this time I have been using dry paints, as they felt easier to use and less messy, but always wanted to use wet paints.

I'm very excited to continue reading this book and learning from Igna.

James Clear | Atomic Habits

Let me start with ...  I'm not a Goals person. I feel that when someone gives me a Goal, it's the last thing I will put effort into.  So why this book?

Atomic Habits is focused on understanding all the habits we already have and how those habits impact us. James Clear breaks it down into basic human nature actions. Here are the two main things I learned from this book.
  1. Unless the Dishwasher hands me a bowl of chocolate ice cream, I'm not putting my mug into it. Instead, it goes into the sink until it magically returns to the cabinet, all nice and clean.
  2. If I put my sneakers on first thing in the morning,
I'm more apt to get on the treadmill and walk.
